Welcome from the Principal
Cead mile failte and thank you for taking the time to visit our website. The College of the Immaculate Conception is a Catholic Voluntary Secondary School located in Sligo in the north west of Ireland. It is under the trusteeship of the Diocese of Elphin and we welcome students from every background and faith community. We have a long tradition of assisting students to reach their full potential which is mainly due to the hard work and commitment of our staff along with the active cooperation of our parents and students as well as the invaluable support from our Board of Management.
As you browse through our website, either as a past-pupil, a present day member of the school community, a prospective student or as a visitor I hope that you will enjoy reading about our school and the unique Summerhill experience that it offers to the students who enrol here.
May our work continue to be blessed by God.
Mr. Paul Keogh
CIC Principal
Realising Our Potential
Under the auspices of ‘Realising Our Potential’ and guided by Summerhill College’s current strategic plan, we are in the midst of an unprecedented undertaking for the School. We have great ambitions and exciting plans that will ensure all students – regardless of their ability or interests – will reach their full potential during their formative years here. These will impact this and future generations. Simultaneously, our past pupils will benefit with a steadfast commitment to alumni engagement and enable an increased role for them in the life of Summerhill.
Our focus is threefold:
1) Enhancing the campus – developing our academic offerings and facilities in important subjects such as science and technology; and ensuring the well-being of our students through physical activity and care of their mental health
a. Phase I is now complete with the all-weather pitch
2) Increasing past pupil interaction – involving alumni in networking and senior student development
a. Our recently established Mentoring Programme has 80+ past pupils – from around the world and across multiple sectors – providing guidance to students
3) Fostering broader relationships – engaging locally-based companies and community organisations
a. Many businesses are associated with our annual student awards
Funding Our Ambitions
We have embarked on a fundraising campaign to help drive and accomplish the above priorities. In just over two years, we have achieved 75% of our goal and have completed Phase I – the all-weather pitch.
This would not have been possible without the generosity, foresight and encouragement of our many donors. We are grateful to parents, past pupils, companies and friends of Summerhill College. Their contribution has been invaluable and it will benefit this and future generations of students.
On behalf of Summerhill College, a heartfelt ‘thank you’ to those listed here, in addition to others who wish to remain anonymous.
